Question by drums626: World Series of Poker…who has been the best player in the series the past few years?
I know there is no “answer,” only opinion; however, I’m curious as to who everyone thinks is the best player in the game of poker today based on their world series performances of the past few years. I have to say Joe Hachem and Greg Raymer based on their wins in the main event and their performances in the big event the year after their wins. Thoughts?

This guy hasn’t done very good in the Series but he has kicked butt in the World Poker Tour.

You might enjoy the television show “High Stakes Poker”. Look for it on the Game Show Network. (GSN)
It’s not the highest game in the world, but it’s probably the best you’ll ever be privy to. In the past they’ve had $ 500,000 minimum buy-in games.

They both have balls. I don’t agree with Norm in this spot, I though it was an arguable call preflop (although Raymer open pushed with no made hand on the flop as I guess Matusow’d expected) and a phenomenal call on the flop. Mike played to win and if he won the coinflip, who knows what wouldve happened.

A friend of mine has been playing poker for one year. He thinks his chances to win the WSOP are better than his chance to win our state lottery. I think he’s nuts. How can you begin to even calculate what the actual odds are? Thousands enter and all are at various skill levels. Thanks, ~Tim

That depends on how good he is. Is he talking about the main event, or a normal event? I think there are around 45 events and I know people that have gotten 2nd, 1st, and 4th places. My brother got 2nd in some event, and got $ 300,000

They probably begin about a year after the free rolls for the 2009 World Series of Poker. I doubt the exact dates are scheduled that far in advance.
